JUNE 19, 2012 - BOSTON, MA - Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth), Massachusetts Life Sciences Center President and CEO Dr. Susan Windham-Bannister, and Dr. Ramon Franco of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary announced a multi-national research study to develop non-invasive procedures to detect pre-malignant lesions. Finland, Northern Ireland and Catalonia have also made commitments to be part of the study.

In 2017, the Network Operator of the MassBroadband 123 network, KCST, Inc., formerly Axia NGNetworks, USA, Inc. (“Axia”), commenced a chapter 11 bankruptcy case with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Massachusetts. In a recent parallel court proceeding, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit affirmed a decision made by a lower court that AxiaNetMedia must continue its obligations under the Guaranty Agreement it signed with the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative back in 2011. For MassTech and the Commonwealth, as the owner of the network, this was another positive legal decision which supports MassTech's contract with the Network Operator and ensures continued delivery of services to the many public institutions and private companies that take service from it.
