Michael Jellinek, MD

Michael S. Jellinek, MD, is President of Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA. He is also Chief of Child Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Jellinek earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, completed pediatrics training at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, Bronx, NY, and residencies in child psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston, MA, and in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital also in Boston. Dr. Jellinek is currently Professor of Psychiatry and of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.
Academically, Dr. Jellinek has written over 200 articles and chapters. With Michael Murphy, Ed.D., he developed the Pediatric Symptom Checklist, which is a brief screening instrument that helps primary care pediatricians identify children with psychosocial dysfunction. In 2002, he led the “Bright Futures in Practice: Mental Health” supported by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which provides guidelines on mental health promotion for infants, children and adolescents.
In 1992 Dr. Jellinek was named as Vice President of Ambulatory Services. In 1996 he was named Senior Vice President at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2001 he named President of Newton Wellesley Hospital, a 240 bed acute care hospital and, along with MGH, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and North Shore Medical Center, a member of the Partners HealthCare System.
Since 2001, Newon-Wellesley Hospital has re-built or expanded most of its outpatient services, developed over 60 collaborative programs with Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Womens Hospital, and has been named a top 100 hospital by Solucient for four of the last five years.

Mitchell Scott Rein, MD
Chief Medical Officer and SVP Medical Affairs, NSMC; Vice-Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, BWH; Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, Harvard Medical School
Mitchell Scott Rein, MD, is Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, North Shore Medical Center, Salem, MA, and Vice Chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA.. He is also an Associate Professor in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Rein earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, North Carolina, and completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Obstetrics and Gynecology following with a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Academically, Dr. Rein has received numerous awards and honors and has written 84 publications (original reports, reviews and abstracts) and has given several national and statewide presentations. He serves on the Partners Physicians Executive Council. In 2000 and again in 2005 and 2006, Dr. Rein was recognized as one of Best Doctors, Inc.- Best Doctors in America (trademark) and in 2006 Boston Magazine’s- Boston’s Best Doctors.
Dr. Rein is responsible for charting the implementation strategy for CPOE employed at both Salem and Union Hospital.

Mark Hulse, RN
Chief Information Officer, Information Services, North Shore
Medical Center
Mark Hulse is currently the Chief Information Officer at North Shore Medical Center where he is responsible for the technology leadership of four hospitals (600 beds, 3500 employees, 480 physicians). In this role he has overseen the implementation of Computerized Physician Order Entry which is currently in use at NSMC’s two acute care hospitals. Prior to his role at NSMC, Mr. Hulse was the Corporate Manager for IS Management and Planning at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He has 10 years of healthcare IT experience, and has been a registered nurse for 25 years. Mr. Hulse is a member of the College of Health Information Management Executives and the Health Information Management Systems Society. He received his bachelor and master’s degrees from Northeastern University.

Sue Sullivan, RN
Manager, Application Services, Information Systems; Certified Lean Healthcare, Holyoke Medical Center
Sue Sullivan, RN, is Manager of Application Services, Information Systems, at Holyoke Medical Center. She holds an AD in Nursing, Holyoke Community College and completed the Lean Healthcare Certificate Program from the University of Michigan. Sullivan has a clinical background in Medical/Surgical and Critical Care Nursing. She was Manager of Nursing Informatics from 1993 to 2003, when she planned and implemented several computer applications for the Division of Nursing.
Sullivan is currently Project Manager for CPOE, and served as Guest Speaker at Holyoke Community College: "Nursing Informatics - A New Dimension." She presented at the Medical Users Software Exchange Conference (International MUSE) - "Meditech's New POC Software from a Beta Site Perspective." She also presented "Wireless Technology at the Point of Care" at Meditech's Nursing Informatics Workshop.
Sullivan is a past president of the Nursing Informatics Council of New England (NISCNE), where she served from 1999 to 2000, and is a member of New England HIMSS.

David Tupponce, MD
Medical Information Officer, Holyoke Medical Center
Dr. David Tupponce graduated from George Washington University Medical School in 1999. He attended a Family Practice Residency program at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center and served as Chief Resident at St. Margaret Hospital. Dr. Tupponce was in private practice in Pittsburgh prior to relocating to Massachusetts. Dr. Tupponce is Board certified in Family Practice, and is a Hospitalist at Holyoke Medical Center. He currently serves as the Medical Information Officer responsible for the implementation of CPOE.

John Freedman, MD, MBA
Healthcare Consultant
Dr. John Freedman has worked in quality measurement and improvement since the days of HEDIS 1.0. After earning his MBA in health systems at the University of Louisville, he served as Assistant Medical Director for Quality Improvement at Kaiser Permanente in Colorado, then headed the Department of Specialty Services at New England’s largest community health center, the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.
At Tufts Health Plan, Dr. Freedman served as Assistant Vice President for Medical and Quality Management, with responsibility for physician profiling, public report cards, pay-for-performance contracting, disease management and utilization management. He received a 2004 Innovator’s Award from America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) for his work on Navigator, a novel, value-based tiered network insurance product.
Dr. Freedman is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center. As a health care performance consultant, clients include health plans, provider organizations and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Quality and Cost Council, responsible for the state’s strategy for health care improvement.
