Learn More About Wind
Wind Energy Fact Sheets
In collaboration with the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the University of Massachusetts Renewable Energy Research Laboratory (RERL) has produced a series of fact sheets on wind power at the community scale. These fact sheets are available at the RERL website and cover the following topics:
Performance, Integration, & Economics
Interpreting Your Wind Resource Data
Organizations and Tutorials
American Wind Energy Association
AWEA, the national trade association of the wind industry, represents wind power plant developers, wind turbine manufacturers, utilities, consultants, insurers, financiers, and researchers in the wind energy field. Its website provides an industry perspective, up-to-date news, and educational information on wind.
Danish Wind Industry Association
Denmark gets a higher percentage of its electricity from wind than any other country (20%). This website not only shows what’s going on in the country but is an excellent source of general information about wind energy. The section for kids, “Wind with Miller,” provides an accessible overview that many adults will also enjoy.
European Wind Energy Association
Most of the world’s wind turbines are in Europe and this website provides extensive information about developments there and elsewhere around the world.
U.S. Department of Energy
The Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy division of the Department of Energy has considerable information on the science of wind energy, wind technologies, wind resources, and other topics. There are also numerous links to other websites.
