Which Review Process?
There are four potential review and approval paths for interconnection. The review process, forms, fees, and timeframes differ significantly based on the characteristics of your distributed generation technology and its proposed location on the electric grid.
PV and other inverter-based technologies under 10 kW that are served by radial systems |
PV and other inverter-based technologies under 10 kW that are served by spot network systems |
Inverter-based systems over 10 kW and other systems of all sizes that are served by radial systems and meet additional requirements |
All projects not eligible for simplified, simplified spot network, or expedited review, including all systems on area networks |
Typical projects: small photovoltaics, demonstration or homeowner wind |
Typical projects: small photovoltaics and demonstration or homeowner wind located on spot networks |
Typical projects: certified large renewables, cogeneration, and other turbines or engines of any size |
Typical projects: uncertified large projects, unusually complex projects, or projects of any size located on area networks |
The simplified process is the shortest, least expensive, and most straightforward review. This is followed in complexity by the simplified spot network review, then the expedited review, and finally the standard review.
