This web Guide provides an overview and links to key resources on the interconnection process and standards used by Massachusetts investor-owned utilities.

The information in this guide was initially based on the February 2004 Uniform Standards for Interconnecting Distributed Generation, established by the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications (DTE) and Energy with input from the Massachusetts Distributed Generation (DG) Collaborative. On behalf of the DTE, the DG Collaborative continues to review and refine these interim standards.

Final standards have been established as of March 2007 and all interconnections will be required to follow any new or changed procedures outlined in those rules.   See February 16, 2007 Update -- D.T.E. 02-38-D: ORDER ON REVISED MODEL DG INTERCONNECTION STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES TARIFF.

These changes have been reflected in this website to a significant extent, including the interconnection rules and "tariffs" for each utility company that can be found at:

This website was assembled by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative with input from members of the Massachusetts DG Collaborative, but none of these entities can be responsible for the accuracy or appropriateness of the information. It is intended as a general guide, not as advice for particular customers or other parties. Users are responsible for checking with the appropriate utility contact person or the DTE to see if more recent rules may apply.  (The 40 municipal utilities in the state are not required to use these standards and must be contacted individually to learn about their interconnection processes.)
