These organizations and individuals can provide useful guidance, technical expertise, and in some cases, rebates or other financial assistance for your green building project.

Utilities

A number of Massachusetts utilities offer funding assistance for green buildings and/or energy-efficient appliances. To learn more, use our search-by-town feature to find your utility’s energy efficiency contacts and websites, as well as other incentive programs and opportunities in your town.

Green building professionals

You can find a professional accredited in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System® by visiting www.usgbc.org , and clicking on “LEED” and “LEED AP Directory.” You can search for a professional by state, city, or other criteria.

A list of home builders, developers, lenders, utilities, and energy rating professionals who partner with ENERGY STAR® to help consumers is available on www.energystar.gov . Click “Find Local Homebuilders” and search by state.

RET Green Buildings and Infrastructure Program

The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) and its Renewable Energy Trust (RET) are among the primary sources of financial assistance for MA green building projects. The Trust's Green Buildings and Infrastructure Program provides financial and technical support for the disciplined inclusion of renewable energy technologies in the broader process of green building development. The program supports individual projects, and will use the results to increase knowledge of green building and renewable energy benefits and practices among building professionals and the public.
