Description: This website provides links to wind energy curricula with particular focus on one science unit containing learning goals, a projected age group and sample tasks along with performance tasks to be completed by students and teachers.
Other integrated curriculum pieces including language arts, technology, and social studies. The connection made from the activities to real-world experiences allow students to investigate the use of wind power and in turn, help others learn about wind power. On the main page, there is a glossary of terms, a history of the local turbine (Spirit Lake Community Schools), wind turbine statistics, and other sources for students to draw from in their research on wind energy. The reading materials include a description of the project and how it will support the use of renewable energy for its power source. Students can also use an environmental calculator to investigate the power of the wind generator in relation to the other environmental resources.
