Description: Two teachers developed a curriculum unit for middle school students. The unit includes 21 total science, math, and general projects and activities.
The 11 science projects and activities focus on the design, construction, redesign, and performance evaluation of a wind turbine. Students have an opportunity to test the performance of their turbine under various wind conditions and to test the performance of redesigned wind turbine blades.
The 8 math projects and activities take a look at the correlation between energy and pollution, how wind turbines can reduce pollution, and how math can be used for constructing efficient turbines.
The unit also includes 2 general activities suitable for a range of subjects.
