Description: The information provided in this booklet explains the sun and its energy. In order to understand the sun and how its light and heat is used as energy, students read about the different parts of a solar collector and how it works with the sun’s rays. Students then take what they have learned through the text and glossary about solar collectors and how they work in providing warmth and energy within a home to construct their own solar collector.
An accompanying activity focuses on modeling a solar air heater. Diagrams and easy to follow directions are included to ensure proper installation. There is a glossary and additional resources for further information.
