Description: Wind with Miller is an interactive website that can also be downloaded as a program for use offline. The site, intended for students ages 12-14, explains how wind power works, focusing on the physics and technology of wind power. The site does not cover environmental or social issues related to wind power. Students and teachers can select different modules to learn about the components of a wind turbine, wind turbine installation, how wind is created, and how to find the best sites for wind energy. Activities include clickable discussions and simulations. Instructions are provided on building models to help students learn how wind power works.
The site does not contain lesson plans; however, the site is thorough and well organized and could be used for several fun and informative lessons without much extra work by the teacher.
The parent site, www.windpower.org, offers more detailed information about wind power that may be more suitable for high school students.
