Production Tracking System
Renewable energy generators funded by the Renewable Energy Trust must report their systems’ electrical output every month via the Production Tracking System (PTS).
The primary objective of the PTS is to provide MTC with the information necessary to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of a wide range of renewable energy distributed generation systems installed in Massachusetts through assistance from the Trust. A secondary objective is to provide MTC with the means to track the performance of the Small Renewables Initiative solar electric (PV) installations and to support the production payment approach used in the Solar-to-Market Initiative.

Metering Requirement FAQs
Participation in the PTS requires installation of a utility grade, revenue quality meter on the ac output side of the renewable generation system’s isolation transformer. The FAQs provide additional meter specifications and information.
In addition to providing MTC with information required by the MTC grant agreements, the PTS tracks and provides the data necessary for projects to report to NEPOOL’s Generation Information System (GIS). The PTS provides the small renewable generator with a tracking system that meets the requirements of ISO-NE and the GIS to create Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). For more information about NEPOOL and the GIS, see www.nepoolgis.com. You can also view or download a copy of the Renewable Generator Certificate Trading Handbook.
